Today Firebird Project announces availability of Firebird 2.5.1 Release Candidate 1 64-bit builds for MacOSX and update of Firebird 2.5.0 64-bit release builds.

The Firebird Project team is happy to announce that the v.2.5.1 release candidate kits for Linux and Windows 32-bit and 64-bit platforms are ready for testing.  MacOSX kits are delayed by a problem with MacOSX 10.7 (Lion) but should appear soon.  Enjoy! and please report bugs or regressions to the firebird-devel list.

The Firebird documentation team is pleased to announce the availability of the Firebird 2.5 Language Reference Update. This comprehensive manual, available in HTML and PDF, contains all the SQL additions, updates and improvements since InterBase 6. Combined with the InterBase 6 Language Reference, it forms a complete SQL reference for Firebird 2.5.

It’s half maintenance release, half new features. You can find all bug fixes in tracker.

The new features include and improvements:
  • Support for Trace API in Firebird 2.5.
  • Improvements in SQL generation for Entity Framework.
  • Support for commands logging .
  • Slightly faster command execution of big queries.
  • And a lot of small code improvement making it more stable…
