16.4. Changing the Schema Search Path
Statements for configuring the schema search path of the current connection.
The schema search path — or, search path — is used to resolve unqualified object names in DDL and DML.
16.4.1. SET SEARCH_PATH
Sets the schema search path
Syntax
SET SEARCH_PATH TO <search_path_list>
<search_path_list>
<identifier> [ { <comma> <identifier> }... ]
SET SEARCH_PATH Statement Parameters| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
identifier | Name of a schema. The schema does not have to exist. |
The SET SEARCH_PATH statements sets the schema search path.
If the SYSTEM schema is not included in search_path_list, it is automatically appended.
The current search path can be retrieved through Section 8.1.1, “RDB$GET_CONTEXT()”, namespace SYSTEM and variable SEARCH_PATH.
Schemas listed in search_path_list do not have to exist when the statement is executed.
The first existing schema in the list is considered the current schema, and can be retrieved through Section 13.4, “CURRENT_SCHEMA”, or Section 8.1.1, “RDB$GET_CONTEXT()”, namespace SYSTEM and variable CURRENT_SCHEMA.
The search path is reset when Section 16.8.1, “ALTER SESSION RESET” is executed.
